Puppets are a major game feature. Puppets were shown to be purple in the diplomatic view and can either have a border the color of the nation puppeting them or a "median color"[2] based on an option.

Mechanics

Nations can have other nations as puppets. They will earn gold from their puppets[3] and steal land away from them or even annexing them entirely (if it is the puppet's last city). However, puppets may revolt if their master tries to steal land away from them and can break free if they are at an advantageous position at the end of the revolt.

One nation may puppet another nation through a war if they are at an advantage in the peace.
